Hadeel & Rafal

Over 20 years ago, Rafal & I first met in Ms. Ginis’ 4th grade math class. Rafal had just moved to the United States from Poland and barely spoke any English. I was a quiet kid who was never that great at math. Ms. Ginis decided to partner us up for a word problem challenge, and I was less than pleased to be stuck with someone who could not read in English yet for a word problem challenge. With the guidance of our teacher, I helped write the word problems out as numbers, and Rafal would solve the math problems that way. Surprisingly, we ended up being great partners and won the challenge, winning the prize of chocolate, Rafal’s favorite.

Fast forward 8 years, Rafal & I ended up working at the Infiniti car dealership together. We instantly recognized one another from elementary school and became close friends. Rafal slowly began introducing me to his friends, a few of which also worked with us at the dealership, who welcomed me with open arms. Our chemistry was very apparent to most of our friends and family at this time; however, we were still not together. Fast forward another 10 years: Rafal & I remained best friends, but feelings shifted. Rafal confessed his love to me, catching me completely off guard. Though we talked 7 days a week and hung out at least 3 days a week, he claimed there was never a good time to tell me prior to that moment. It took a bit of time for me to accept what he had just told me, but we decided to give our relationship a shot. It was the best decision either of us ever made. We were already the people we leaned on during our best and worst days, and loving one another came so easily.

Three and a half years later, we took a bucket list trip to Thailand. This was a place we both had wanted to explore for the longest time. This trip was already going to be one of the most memorable ones either of us had been on, but Rafal decided to make it even more memorable and propose on the trip. Here we both are now, planning the ultimate trip with all of our favorite people. We are so excited to have the opportunity to share such a special moment with those who are closest to us. It means so much that you all have agreed to join us on this journey. Cheers to forever!
